To protect, guide, and educate the children and families of Ohkay Owingeh by encouraging self-reliance, preserving culture, and enhancing the quality of life.

Ohkay Owingeh Social Services is the designated tribal department responsible for providing Child Protective Services, foster/emergency care placement, to dependent, abused and/or neglected, and/or abandoned children. Child Protective Services also conducts investigations and participates in the Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Court Judicial System in regard to civil abuse/neglect cases in accordance to the Ohkay Owingeh Children’s Code adopted as Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Council Resolution 2020-40; August 19th, 2020.

The Department is an active member of the New Mexico Tribal Indian Child Welfare Consortium (NMTIC).
